Lucky me…
Work has been very stressful as of late. But today, I had a meeting with a few of my work peeps. And I just got to say, I work with some pretty funny people. And some pretty great people.
Now you have to remember, just like my police officer husband, I work in what many consider a somewhat stressful field. So just like my husband and his co-workers, we (as in my peeps and me) have a somewhat different sense of humor. It affects how we view our job. And the people in the world around us. The things we find humorous though might be considered somewhat inappropriate to the world at large. But it certainly helps to be around other people who have a true grasp of what you go through on a daily basis.
Then at the conclusion of our meeting, we caught up on a co-worker’s health crisis with her mother. As we all sat there hearing about the trauma and pain and suffering our friend’s mother had been through, we tried to be as supportive as possible. And thankfully, her mom appears to be on the road to recovery.
The main point of all my going-on is that I have days where I wonder if I can take another bad day on the job. I have days where I wonder if what I do actually makes any difference.
But as we all hugged our co-worker who had been through hell in the last two months, I realized how absolutely and thoroughly lucky we are to have each other. When I have one of those days and wonder if I will ever be able to walk back into the door, I just need to remember moments like today.
